SIOUX FALLS – Reese Jansa and Luke Honner won titles in the SDGA Sanford Golf Series Championship on Monday at The Country Club of Sioux Falls.
Following five regular-season events, the top-30 boys and top-12 girls were invited to play in the tournament.
Jansa topped Mitchell’s Masy Mock with a par on the fourth hole of a playoff after both golfers fired 1-over-par 73s in regulation.
Jansa was 2-under through 11, logging four birdies.
Mock birdied three of her final 10 holes – including a 3 at the 18th – to force a playoff.
Jansa parred the par-4 16th in the playoff to seal the victory.
Sioux Falls’ Lauren Sutcliffe (75) and Shannon McCormick (77) were third and fourth, respectively.
Brookings’ Delilah Fuls shot 88 and ended up in a tie for eighth.
Flandreau’s Keva Burshiem carded an 89 and was 10th.
Luke Honner shot 1-under 71 to edge Lincoln teammate Nash Stenberg (72).
Honner eagled the 15th and birdied the 16th – his second of the day. His third bogey came on the final hole.
Stenberg birdied four holes on the front. He bogeyed Nos. 13 and 18.
Sioux Falls’ Garrett Everson, Wentworth’s Chase McDonald, Watertown’s Sam Hansen and Orange City (Iowa)’s David Korver tied for third at 74.
Twenty-one players broke 80.
McInroy takes Women’s Senior
MITCHELL – Sioux Falls’ Dawn McInroy shot 159 (83-76) to win the SDGA Women’s Senior Championship over the weekend at Lakeview.
First-round leader Royaune Jasinski, of Rapid City, was second at 161 (78-83).
Rapid City’s Marna Raburn (82-80—162), Aberdeen’s Colette Quam (84-79—163) and Mobridge’s Rebecca Peacock (87-77—164) rounded out the top five.
Volga’s Joan Hegerfeld-Baker (84-82—166) placed seventh and Vonda Bjorklund (80-87—167) was a stroke back in eighth.
