JASA hits $1 million mark again

BROOKINGS – For the third year in a row, the Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction reached the $1 million mark.

A total of $1,102,376 was raised at the April 27 event, which featured a 2-to-1 match from an anonymous donor. That figure represents the second-highest total in the history of the event.

“To be able to raise a quarter of our annual scholarship bill in one night for the third year in a row is an amazing testament to the generous support of so many, especially our anonymous donor,” Director of Athletics Justin Sell said. “It’s a great night in total, but I really love how the entire community comes together to make it one of the greatest events in Brookings each year.”

More than 400 items were up for bid between the live and silent auctions, and nearly 500 people attended the event at Frost Arena. A select number of items remain available for purchase or bidding at jacks2019.givesmart.com.

Next year’s Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction is tentatively scheduled for May 2, 2020.
