In 2006, Jason married Crystal Cotten, at a picnic wedding in Volga. They have two handsome boys, Coy, 6, and Knox, 2.

Jason loved being a lineman, and after working for several utilities in the region, had gained countless friends. His extensive knowledge of the utility industry recently led him to train lineman, and he was currently working designing electrical system upgrades at DGR Engineering in Rock Rapids.

Jason’s sharp wit and dry sense of humor are qualities that have been passed on to his sons, nieces, and nephews. Jason was passionate about many things in life, particularly financial planning, and was able to help numerous people obtain financial freedom. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jason was a man of great faith and relied heavily on his faith through many challenges in his life. He wanted all to know the one who gave his life for all of us.

Jason is survived by his wife, Crystal; two sons: Coy and Knox at home; parents, Kenny Niemann (Jackie Weiss) of Arlington, Barb Niemann of Bridgewater; in-laws, Gary (Paulette) Cotten of Watertown; siblings, Cindy (Doug) Damm of Clear Lake, Jill (Joe) Dolezal of Canistota, Kim (Mark) Olson of Morenzi, Arizona, Scott (Sherri) Bachtell of Viborg; sisters-in-law, Stephanie (Brad) Stuwe of Shakopee, Minnesota, and Teresa (Mark) Wiemerslage of Dorchester, Iowa, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and two brothers, Todd Bachtell and Kurt Niemann. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to a fund for Knox and Coy’s financial future.
