Jean F. Liebsch - Brookings

Jean F. Liebsch 88, of Brookings, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Neighborhoods of Brookview, Brookings.  Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Rude’s Funeral Home, with a 6 p.m Liturgical Wake Service.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Brookings.  Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. 

 Jean F. Laubach was born Dec. 10, 1930, in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Edward John and Francis (Gotten) Laubach.  She grew up and attended school in St. Cloud at Cathedral High School where she graduated from.  She then attended Saint Benedict University in Collegeville, MN where she received her Bachelors of Nursing degree.  She did her internship in Rochester, MN and in Brookings.  She met Donald F. Liebsch while in Brookings and they were united in marriage on April 25, 1953, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Brookings. 

 She was employed at Brookings Health System, Estelline Hospital as Director of Nurses and various other health care facilities in the area.

 She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.  She enjoyed fishing, spending time at the lake with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved to read and attend Mass.  She was a member of the Brookings County Nurses. 

 Jean is survived by her children, Gary (Karen) Liebsch of St. Louis, MO, Vicki (Bernie) Nissen of Lake Poinsett, Mary C. (Brad) Kragh of Brookings,  John (Kim) Liebsch of Mineral, VA, Teri Jo (Mike) Fergen of Lake Poinsett, Thomas (Coleen) Liebsch of Arlington and Patrick (Leanne) Liebsch of Waconia, MN; her grandchildren, Kensey Liebsch, Eric (Becky) Liebsch, Chris (Dove) Nissen, Kelli Jo (George) Theron, Lane Nissen, Adam Kragh, Jessica (Brian) Pecoraro, Jennifer (Pete) DeAnna, Jason Raabe, Megan (Evan) Walterman, Tyler (Shannon) Liebsch, Krista Liebsch, Thomas Liebsch, Jr., Taylor Liebsch, Ryan Liebsch and Ethan Liebsch; great grandchildren, Paityn Nissen, Tristin Liebsch, Andre Theron, Gerrhett Nissen, Eli Walterman, Julian, Shayla, Gavin, Colin, Aidynn and Ashlynn; sisters, Carole (Don) Sandene and Gretchen (Ken) Preimesberger; brother, Edward (Cathy) Laubach and one sister-in-law, Joyce (Vearl) Peck of Rapid City, SD.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; two sisters, Bonnie and Patricia and one granddaughter, Nikki Dreher.
