Jennie M. Michelke, 98, of Brookings, formerly of Madison, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at United Living Center in Brookings. Funeral services were held, Saturday, Sept. 1 at West Center Baptist Church in Madison. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Madison. 

Jennie DeBoer was born Feb. 15, 1920, in Madison, to John and Rena (Stomberg) DeBoer. She grew up in Farmington Township and held various jobs in Madison where she met the love of her life Marvin. After Marvin returned from World War II, the couple were married on Jan. 17, 1947, at West Center Baptist Church. They lived on the same farm for 50 years where they raised their four daughters.

Jennie loved to crochet, sew, and visit with people. She was also very creative and enjoyed playing and listening to music, even playing the piano in the “Kitchen Blender Band.” Above all else she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Linda Renner of Rapid City, Lana (James) Casler of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Wilma (Robert) Ohlsen of White, and Twila (Richard) Taylor of Brookings; 11 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are  her husband Marvin in 2009; four brothers and five sisters.
