Jimmy C. Jones, 72, of Lake Madison and formerly of Egan, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas. 

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Flandreau. Burial is in the Trent Cemetery. Visitation is 5 – 7  p.m. Wednesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau.

Jimmy Charles Jones was born Jan. 25, 1944, to Kenneth and Beulah (Gochnour) Jones at Chester. He attended Egan School graduating in 1962. 

Jimmy married Beverly A. Smallfield Feb. 15, 1964, in Flandreau. The couple farmed south of Egan for 40 years until retiring in 2002. They then made their home at Lake Madison. 

In 1980 Jim and friend Alvin Ellefson started trucking and they formed their own business. After retiring from farming, Jim worked for Pam Oil of Sioux Falls until 2010. Through the years, he worked part-time at the Egan School, driving bus, Egan Bar, and sold Archer Oil. 

Jim, along with other area farmers, formed Egan Area Farmers purchasing the Egan Elevator in 1996 where he served as vice-president. Jim was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moody County Pork Producers and Trent Odd Fellows. He enjoyed the summers at the lake with family and friends. The couple has been spending the winter in Donna, Texas, since 2010. 

Jim is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Dean (Lori) of Webster; Barbara of Phoenix; three step-grandsons; brother, Jackie of Mesa, Ariz.; sister Judy (John) Thies of Luverne, Minn., and nieces and nephews. 

Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Joy Lacher.
