John Huber,  93, of Hendricks, Minnesota, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at the Hendricks Community Hospital.  

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, Minnesota.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  

Burial, with military honors by the Rueben-Hansen American Legion Post 195 of Hendricks, will be at the East Hendricks Cemetery. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Hendricks is entrusted with the arrangements.

 John Henry Huber was born May 21, 1924, in Bushnell to parents Nickolas and Mary (Tomscha) Huber. 

He was raised on the family farm near Elkton  and he attended country school.  John proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and he served in Japan and was honorably discharged in March 1946. After the war he returned home to farm.

On Sept. 3, 1955, John married Marlys Oien at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Hendricks, Minnesota.  They had one daughter, Kim.  

Together they farmed and milked cows and in the early 1970s John and Marlys moved to Brookings, where John worked for SDSU as a custodian for the veterinary science facility.  

In 1996, they moved back to Hendricks.

 John enjoyed maintaining their home and taking the RV out of town for some fishing with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed spending time at the lake in their cabin. 

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and also of the Rueben-Hansen American Legion, Post No. 195 of Hendricks.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marlys Huber of Hendricks; his daughter, Kim (Kent) Kanten of Milan, Minnesota; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

 He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Russell and Virgil Huber and numerous in-laws.
