Joyce A. Jurgens, 84, of Flandreau, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Avera Flandreau Hospital.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Flandreau. Burial is in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Elkton.
Joyce was born Oct. 18, 1932, at Flandreau to Christian and Victoria (Henderson) Grafing. Joyce received her education in Flandreau and married Elmer Jurgens on June 27, 1949, at Pipestone, Minn.
Joyce worked in the kitchen at Flandreau Public Schools and they owned Jurgens Package Store from 1964 until 1980.
Elmer died Nov. 13, 1988.
Joyce was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and enjoyed working cross word puzzles (the hard ones).
Joyce is survived by two children, Elmer “Sonny”(Judy) Jr. of Chaska, Minn., and Vicky (Bob) Ehret of Pine City, Minn.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two brothers, Dugan and Dick Grafing both of Flandreau.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, eight brothers and a sister.
