Joyce Kaye Williams, 72, of Lake Preston, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully with her family by her side on Aug. 14, 2018, at the Lake Norden Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lake Norden.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arlington with burial in the Nordland Cemetery in rural Arlington. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Catholic Church and preceding services at the church on Monday.

Joyce was born on July 15, 1946, to Nels and Eva (Blotz) Hanson at Volga.  Joyce lived a joyous life filled with wonderful memories of her time with family and friends.  

She married David Lee Hesby on Sept. 27, 1963. They raised five children Brad, Becky, Greg, Mike and Jeff.  David died Sept. 6, 1992.

Joyce met Daryl Williams and they married on Dec. 28, 2002, in Oldham.  In their years together, they had many adventures, including moving to Black Hawk and returning to Lake Preston. Daryl died on Dec. 24, 2017.

Joyce’s passion to travel, led her on many adventures which she saw much of the United States with Riley Tours, as a bus escort. During that same time, she enjoyed gardening, woodworking and crafting, among other hobbies. Joyce was know as a loving mother to her five children, a wonderful grandmother to six grandchildren and as “Grandma Cookie” to 10 great-grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her five children, as well as their significant others, Brad and Lara Hesby, Greg and Becky Cass, Greg Hesby and Cindy Harty, Mike Hesby, and Jeff Hesby and Sandy Grimmius; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Mary Kirkvold, Kenny Hansen, JoAnn Faber, Wayne Hanson, Rod Hanson, Steve Hanson, Linda Stewart and Susan Nesseim and many other beloved family members.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands David Hesby and Daryl Williams.
