Judith Faye Schutjer, 86, of Brookings, South Dakota, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Memorial services have been set for 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, at Rude’s Funeral Home, Brookings. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial srvices.
Judy Faye was born at home on the family farm near White, South Dakota, on Dec. 2, 1935, the daughter of Allen A. and Georgia E. (Smidt) Schutjer. She attended rural schools and then completed her education in Brookings, graduating from Brookings High School in 1953.
In 1954, Judy moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, where she was employed in the financial industry for 25 years. She returned to Brookings in 1979 and was employed with South Dakota State University’s College of Family and Consumer Sciences until her retirement in 2004.
Judy enjoyed being outdoors, going on long walks in all kinds of weather, working in her yard and garden, and exercising her beloved cats, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her many family members and friends.
Judy is survived by her brother Gary Schutjer, of Brookings, and by her cousins and her numerous nieces and nephews and great- and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Allen; her mother, Georgia; her sister, Beverly Aho; and her brother-in-law, Eldon Aho.
