JV boys post two wins; Bantam A goes 1-0, Bantam B 2-0


JV BOYS

The Rangers won 5-3 at Brandon Valley on Saturday and then posted a 2-1 victory over Oahe at home Sunday.

Brookings improved to 4-2-1-0 in SDAHA league play.

 Brookings 5, Brandon Valley 3

The Rangers overcame an early 1-0 deficit with three first-period goals and added one score apiece in the next two stanzas.

Nick Jonas led the charge, lighting the lamp twice.

Isaac Dobesh and Trenton Pederson both added a goal and an assist.

Trevor Pederson contributed a goal, with Geoffrey Svobodny and Brody Powers tallying assists.

Kaden Gutormson made 24 saves in goal.

 Brookings 2, Oahe 1

Kane Kurtenbach netted the game-winner with 10:58 remaining in the second period. Jonas assisted.

Trevor Pederson found the back of the net in the opening frame, with Jacob Drew getting credited with the assist.

The Capitals’ lone goal came with 24 seconds left in the first.

Goalie Carter Schulz stopped 38 shots.

BANTAM A

The Rangers beat Oahe 5-1 on Sunday at home to move their league record to 5-1.

The score was 1-0 after a period and 3-1 through two.

Owen Schneider netted a pair of goals and an assist.

Jack Merritt, Zach Struck and Jacob Kahle also scored. Luke Honkomp and Jacob Peterson collected assists.

Egan Jensen had 18 saves.

BANTAM B

Brookings recorded a 4-2 road win over Sioux Falls (2) on Saturday and then beat Oahe 8-1 at home Sunday.

The Rangers are 4-2-0-1 in SDAHA action.

The Rangers used a three-goal second period to pick up the victory.

Cooper Deatherage lit the lamp twice and Koen Beinhorn and Jordan Raatz also scored.

Derrick Eischens and Aidan Austreim assisted.

Nathan Brecher stopped 14 shots.

 Brookings 8, Oahe 1

The Rangers put up three goals in the first period and four in the second.

Raatz racked up four goals and added an assist.

Deatherage (assist), Austreim, Carson Odde and Jack Lee also found the back of the net.

Brecher made nine saves.

PEEWEE A

Brookings picked up a 15-0 home win over Watertown on Friday and lost 4-2 at Sioux Falls (1) on Saturday.

The Rangers’ league record stands at 2-5.

The Rangers scored six times in each of the first two periods.

Cody Jacobson racked up five goals and an assist.

Jackson Heller had a hat trick. Jay Harris (three assists) and Rhys Heiberger both contributed a pair of goals.

Waylon Carroll and Parker Nielsen added a goal and two assists apiece. Bryce Heflin had a goal and an assist.

Ryder Anderson had 10 saves.

 Sioux Falls (1) 4, Brookings 2

Talon Hyde had a goal and an assist. Jacobson lit the lamp.

Anderson stopped 25 shots.

PEEWEE C

Brookings beat Watertown 2-1 on Friday but fell 4-3 to Sioux Falls on Sunday in action at Larson Ice Center.

The Rangers are 4-5 in league contests.

 Brookings 2, Watertown 1

Andrew Hahn lit the lamp with 35 seconds remaining to lift the Rangers.

Micah Zweibahmer scored on an assist from Ashton Baker in the first period. The Lakers pulled even in the second.

Matthew Bothe made 23 saves.

• Sioux Falls 4, Brookings 3

Jamison Olson netted a hat trick.

Connor Buckley tallied a pair of assists and Emerson Cramer contributed one.

Bothe stopped 17 shots.

The Flyers scored the winning goal with 2:50 to go.
