JVC boys, Miller girls win tournament

DE SMET – The James Valley Christian boys’ and Miller girls’ golf teams won the De Smet Invitational Tuesday.


JVC won with a total score of 245. De Smet came in second with a 248 and Wessington Springs came in third with a 261. Deubrook Area came in sixth with a 299.

Deuel’s Tanner Preheim finished in first overall with a 76. JVC’s Jevin Goertz came in second (78) and De Smet’s Cody Cavanaugh finished in third (79).

Ethan Olson led Deubrook and came in 13th with an 87. Zach Buchholz shot a 101 and finished in 25th. Travis Trooien came in 31st (111) and Jens Sandro rounded things out for Deubrook, coming in 40th (135).


Miller won the tournament with a 292. Sioux Valley finished in second with a 293 and JVC finished in third with a 324.

Miller’s Jayce Pugh finished first overall with an 87. Sioux Valley’s Julia Steffensen came in second (90). JVC’s Olivia Rink and Sioux Valley’s Laryn Stevens tied for third (97).

Sioux Valley’s Caitlyn Cradduck and Morgan Hemmestad tied for 10th (106). Haley Bohnet came in 12th (109) and Kasey Pistulka rounded things out for Sioux Valley and came in 16th (114).
