Karl Ray Lee, 77, of Colman died Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Avera Flandreau Hospital in Flandreau. 

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sioux Falls First Assembly of God. Burial is in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation is 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Karl was born July 2, 1940, at Colman to Freeland and Lida Lucille (Pickard) Lee. He graduated from Colman High School in 1958. 

He attended Nettleton College for tax preparation. 

Karl married June Guild on May 13, 1960, in Dell Rapids. They lived in Colman where Karl worked at Farmers Co-op Lumber Yard. 

He eventually purchased and co-owned the lumber yard until 1983. 

He then worked as a general contractor while continuing to be a tax preparer. Karl was a member of the Sioux Falls First Assembly of God, served as a deacon and was head of the Altar Prayer team. 

He was on the Colman Volunteer Fire Department and had served as fire chief. He enjoyed the outdoors and working around his acreage. Karl’s greatest passion was his love for Christ Jesus only followed by love for his family and friends for which he always had a hug. He cared deeply for all those around him.  

Karl is survived by his wife June; three children, Beth (David) Robinson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Steven (Janice) of Sioux Falls; Renee (David) Giese of Colman; five grandsons; three great-grandchildren and three siblings, Donald (Donna) Lee, Amaranth of Manitoba, Merle Lee of Raymore, Mo., and Grace (Fred) Burtelson of Harvard, Ill.

 Karl was preceded in death by four siblings, Marvin, Leroy, Lila, and Robert.
