BROOKINGS – Brookings Economic Development Corporation will host the third annual Kid-Preneur Pop-up Market from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 27, as part of this year’s downtown Crazy Days events.
The market provides an opportunity for kids ages 5-17 to promote their business ideas. From selling baked goods, promoting a dog-walking service, or showing off their one-of-a-kind artwork, young entrepreneurs participating in the market will have the opportunity to learn about business development.
“We had great success the last two years hosting this event and getting kids to participate and think about what it takes to have a business,” said Jennifer Quail, BEDC’s director of entrepreneur support. “The kids really enjoy showcasing their unique products and services and receiving valuable feedback and encouragement from the public.”
There is no cost to have a booth at the market or to attend. If you know a child interested in participating, visit https://startupbrookings.com/kidpreneur/. The public is encouraged to stop by and meet Brookings’ youngest entrepreneurs.
“We know we can count on the Brookings community to come out and support these kids in their business endeavors,” said Quail.
This year’s market will be located directly on Main Avenue between Third and Fourth streets; this area will be blocked off. The kid-preneur pop-up market is just one of the many events and programs available for entrepreneurs and startups through BEDC’s Startup Hub.
