Kim Hovorka Pederson (née Kellen), 54, of Brookings, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown under hospice care.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday, also at the funeral home.
Kim was born on May 18, 1964, at Fr. Bragg, North Carolina, to Bernard and Phyllis (Barton) Kellen. Her father was in the military, therefore she traveled the world as a young child. At the age of 1, Kim underwent a major kidney surgery, and was fortunate to survive. After traveling the world, Kim’s family returned to the Midwest, and Kim attended Pipestone School.
Survivors include her mother, Phyllis Kellen; daughter, Amber Paulson; siblings, Kathie (Doug) Tormanen, Kevin Kellen, Kerry Kellen, and Kandy (James) Barthel; five grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Kellen; husband, Dale Hovorka; aunt, Deanna Rhody, and her grandparents.
