BROOKINGS – The Brookings Convention & Visitors Bureau continues another summer of Downtown at Sundown.

This Thursday’s performance features local opener Plum Crazy. This group will get the audience feeling crazy good with their mix of soft rock, pop, blues and oldies.

This week’s headliner is Kirsten Thien, who is returning to the Downtown at Sundown stage.

All the way from New York City, Thien’s mix of blues, R&B and soulful jazz brings together old-world Chicago with New Orleans flavor and a Memphis kick. Her influences include Otis Redding, B.B. King and Aretha Franklin.

Downtown at Sundown is held from 5-9 p.m. every Thursday night on Fifth Street in downtown Brookings and features local musicians, regional headliners, free face painting, inflatables, bag toss, and food and beverage vendors from local restaurants. The series runs through the end of summer with the final festival taking place on Aug. 23.

The event is open to all ages, and admission is free. The kid zone inflatables, face painting and bag toss are all free. Tickets must be purchased at the ticket booth to buy food and beverages. Each vendor is serving something different, ranging in price from one to seven tickets.

The Downtown at Sundown schedule for the rest of the summer includes: Aug. 23: Nathan Dean and the Damn Band.
