BROOKINGS – The Brookings Kiwanis Club will host its annual Pancake Day from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. The all-you-can-eat fundraiser will be held at the First United Methodist Church Community Life Center.
The pancakes, made by the local Sioux River ABATE Chapter, will be served with sausages and assorted beverages. The cost is $8, and is free for children 5 and younger. Gluten-free pancakes will be available by request.
The Brookings Kiwanis Club will use the funds raised to support local community projects that include the Brookings Backpack Program, Community Band, Share the Warmth, Harvest Table and Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Kiwanis also supports two Brookings High School scholarships annually.
The Brookings Kiwanis Club meets at noon every Thursday at the First Lutheran Church Mission Coffeehouse. Meetings include fellowship, business and a speaker from the community or region. In July 2022, the local organization will celebrate 100 years of service of “Improving the World – One Community at a Time.”
Pancake Day tickets are available from any Kiwanian or are available at the door. A basket raffle will also be included in the annual event.
