Knights pull out 52-50 win over ‘Cats

SIOUX FALLS – For the second time in 10 days, the Bobcats had a top 3 team on the ropes, but came up empty in the end.

Brookings led 47-41 in the fourth quarter over O’Gorman, following a Trent Broksieck 3-pointer, but the host Knights closed on an 11-3 run to pull out a 52-50 nonconference win on Saturday.

The score was tied at 16-16 after a quarter and 24-24 at halftime before the ‘Cats built a 40-36 edge heading into the fourth.

Brookings led 49-47 in the final frame after a Drew Cole basket, but Jeremy Jones cut the lead to one point after going 1-for-2 from the foul line.

On O’Gorman’s next possession, an offensive-rebound basket turned into a 3-pointer by Zach Norton to give the Knights a 51-49 advantage.

Trevor Woodall then went 1-of-2 from the foul line to make it a 51-50 game before a Norton charity toss provided for the final margin.

Woodall led all scorers with 19 points while Broksieck added 17 as the Bobcats dropped to 4-11 on the season.

Jones’ 15 points and seven rebounds led O’Gorman, which improved to 11-5 overall.

The Bobcats play host to Huron on Tuesday at Bob Jostad Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
