Kristi Kay (Colberg) Dobbs, 53, died Monday, April 10, 2017, at her home.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Preston Christian Church in rural Bruce. A public visitation  is Friday at the Geise Funeral Home in Estelline from 5-7 p.m. with family present. 

Kristi was born on Jan. 10, 1964, to Earl and Shirley (Blumke) Colberg of Estelline. She attended Estelline High School, South Dakota State University and Dakota State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from SDSU in 1988.

 Kristi excelled in track and field, winning the state championship in several events throughout her varsity track career. She still holds top records in Estelline and was named the Honorary Referee for the Alumni Track Meet in 2007 in recognition of her accomplishments.

 Kristi’s passion was working with people, especially those with special needs and the elderly. She spent several years working for the Watertown Boys and Girls Club as the program director and was the recipient of their Woman of the Year award. She also worked as a director for Girl Scouts, the Red Cross and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

 Kristi enjoyed spending time with her children. She also loved dogs, gardening, cooking and baking and was known for her famous chocolate chip cookies.

 Kristi is survived by her daughter Erin (Brian) Alderson of Hartford,; her son Tyler Thue of Watertown; her daughter Kalli Thue of Phoenix; her son Gage Dobbs of Castlewood;  two grandchildren; her parents Earl and Shirley Colberg of Estelline; her sisters Linda (Joel) Mulder of St. Charles, Ill., Vicki DeVille of Estelline, Sheila (Doug) Gerhold of Castlewood, Lorri (Steven) Johnson of Humboldt and Marci (Layne) Saathoff of Bruce; her brother David (Naomi) Colberg of Marion and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Pat Hess and brother-in-law Randy DeVille.
