Lady Raiders win, Hawks’ boys lose

The Oldham-Ramona/Rutland girls’ basketball team picked up a 62-60 win over Waubay/Summit on Saturday, while the Colman-Egan boys’ dropped a 58-30 contest to Bridgewater-Emery on Monday in area high school basketball.

Girls (Saturday)

 Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 62, Waubay/Summit 60

RUTLAND – Brooklyn Hageman scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as one of three players in double-figures as the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Lady Raiders picked up a narrow win over Waubay/Summit on Saturday.

Julia Trygstad led ORR with 16 points and had nine rebounds, while Alivia Bickett added 11 points and seven rebounds, as well as five assists.

Bailey Hyland chipped in with eight points and four assists, and both Paige Hanson and Alivia Spilde had six points each.

The Lady Raiders shot just 3-of-16 from behind the three-point arc and only 15-of-35 at the free throw line.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland improves to 3-5 with the win. The Lady Raiders play host to James Valley Christian tonight at 6:15 p.m., with the boys’ varsity game to follow at 7:30.

Boys (Monday)

 Bridgewater-Emery 58, Colman-Egan 30

COLMAN – Ben Zwart scored nine points and three rebounds, and Logan Voelker added eight points and three rebounds, but the Colman-Egan Hawks came up on the short end of a 58-30 score on Monday night in boys’ basketball action in Colman.

Jase Mousel chipped in with six points, while Sawyer Uhing tossed in five and handed out four assists.

Bridgewater-Emery was led by Sutton Arend with 26 points and 13 rebounds, and Sam Hofer added 14 points and five assists.

The Huskies outrebounded Colman-Egan 54-30.

Bridgewater-Emery shot 24-of-59 (41 percent) from the field, but just 3-of-15 from three-point land and 7-of-16 at the free throw line.

The Hawks made just 12-of-51 (24 percent) from the field, including 6-of-18 from deep.

Colman-Egan attempted seven free throws but did not make any.

After trailing 27-19 at the half, the Hawks were outscored 31-11 in the final 16 minutes of the game.

Colman-Egan (0-6) travels to Garretson on Friday for a matchup with the Blue Dragons.

The girls’ game gets underway at 6:15 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow at approximately 7:30.
