Larson signs with SDSU cross country, track and field

BROOKINGS – Cody Larson, a three-time South Dakota Class B cross country champ from Warner, signed to compete for the Jackrabbit cross country and track and field teams beginning in the 2021-22 school year.

Larson captured his third consecutive title this past fall in dominating fashion, winning the Class B title by 47 seconds. His time of 15 minutes, 54 seconds for 5,000 meters was the fastest recorded on the snow covered layout at Hart Ranch in Rapid City among the three state classes.

His best time for 5,000 meters was 15:48 from the 2020 Lake Region Conference meet.

On the track, Larson recorded best times of 9:51 for 3,200 meters and 4:39 for 1,600 meters as a sophomore. He captured the Class B state 3,200-meter title in 2019 after a runner-up finish in 2018. In total he has collected five state meet medals with additional placings coming in the 1600 meters and as a member of the Monarchs 4x800 meter relay teams.

He plans on majoring in mechanical engineering.
