SIOUX FALLS – The South Dakota State women’s soccer team trailed for a majority of the second half in its exhibition finale at Augustana, but the Jackrabbits rallied with two goals in a less than two-minute span to earn a 3-2 win over the Vikings at Morstad Field on Saturday.
The two sides completed the opening 45 minutes of play tied at 1-1 as each squad converted on penalty kicks they were awarded in the first half. Rachel Preston found the back of the net on her attempt to put the Jacks on the board.
Augustana jumped ahead less than five minutes into the second half with a goal to put the Vikings up 2-1. SDSU had several opportunities to tie the score over the next 20 minutes of action until Maya Hansen slammed in a goal in the 82nd minute.
The Jackrabbits took their first lead of the match just a minute later as Abigail Kastens scored for the Yellow and Blue. SDSU held off the home side over the next seven minutes to close out its preseason schedule.
