SIOUX FALLS – Harrisburg and Madison won second-round games at Tuesday’s Class B Amateur State Baseball Tournament at Ronken Field, but went about winning in completely different way.

The Woodies shut out Lennox Only One, 12-0, while the Broncos put together a late rally to get past Lesterville, 9-8.

Those two teams meet in Friday’s early quarterfinal matchup with the first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

 Madison 9, Lesterville 8

Lesterville built an 8-2 lead through 7 1/2 innings before the Bronco rallied with a six-run eighth to tie the game.

Only four of the Broncs’ eight runs were earned as the Broncos committed five errors, so it was only fitting that a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth allowed Madison’s Mitch McNary to get into scoring position after leading off with a base hit. Greg Biagi drew a one-out walk before Nick Bird’s single to left plated McNary with the winning run.

Biagi had two hits, including a double, as he drove in three runs while Bird singled twice and plated two. Brian Miller had drove in two runs with a double in the eighth and McNary finished with two hits and an RBI.

Brett Mogen picked up the win in relief after giving up one unearned run on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts over the final four innings. Jamison Hunter allowed seven runs – four earned – on 10 hits and two walks with one strikeout over the first five frames.

Tyler Edler went 4-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and scored three runs to lead Lesterville. Dave Schmidt drove in three runs with a pair of hits while Brandon Nickolite tried to help his cause with two hits and an RBI.

Alex Wagner suffered the loss in relief after giving up one earned run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout in one inning of work. Nickolite went the first seven innings and allowed seven earned runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Tanner Van Driel, who got one out in the eighth, surrendered one earned run on three hits with a strikeout.
