LaVonne F. Thomas, 89, of Flandreau, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at Foundation Cottage in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. Burial is Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, in the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis.
LaVonne Frances Agnitsch was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Ihlen, Minnesota, to Henry and Mary (Scheuring) Agnitsch. She attended grade school in Ihlen and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1946. LaVonne married Lincoln Ellis Thomas on April 20, 1949, in Pipestone, Minnesota. They made their home in Flandreau. She helped at Thomas Funeral Home, which they owned. She worked at Top Line Variety, Gambles, True Value, Heiertz Rexall, Family Pharmacy & Gifts, and Lewis Family Drug. LaVonne was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.
Her family includes Linda (Robert) Harris of Alta, Iowa, Pamela (Doug) Shipe of Lenexa, Kansas, Kerry (Laurie) Thomas of Flandreau; Tom (Marion) Thomas of Wakefield, Rhode Island; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one sister Margaret Kiesow of Sioux Falls.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband (Sept. 6, 2004), son Danny, daughter-in-law Penny; four brothers and one sister.
