LeBrun nets his 2,000th point

FLANDREAU – Flier senior Dylan LeBrun celebrated his final Parent’s Night at the high school level in style as Flandreau beat De Smet 61-44 in a Lake Central Conference boys’ basketball game.

The Augustana commit topped the 2,000-point mark for his career – he’s the school recordholder in the category. LeBrun completed the double-double with 11 rebounds and also dished out five assists.

“We had a fun night,” said Flier coach Brendan Sheppard. “Parent’s Night was great and Dylan scoring his 2,000th point made for a special evening.

“We played a great game defensively and really got after them on that end. Only allowing 15 points in the first half was a tremendous effort.”

The home team was up 20-9 after a quarter and extended the advantage to 34-15 at the break. The Fliers were on top 56-31 through three.

Connor LeBrun added seven points and five dimes. Grady Gullickson had six points and four boards.

De Smet (9-11, 1-5) got 14 points from Gage Gruenhagen, 11 by Ethan McCune and 10 from Trevin Holland.

Flandreau wrapped up the regular season with a 15-5 record. The Fliers tied for second in the LCC with a 4-2 mark.

Flandreau plays host to Flandreau Indian School (8-11) in the first round the Region 2A Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

 Deubrook Area 65, Chester Area 59

CHESTER – The Dolphins overcame a big night by Devin Eppard, rallying in the fourth quarter for a nonconference win over the Flyers.

Deubrook led 18-9 after a quarter and 34-28 at halftime, but was behind 45-44 entering the fourth. The Dolphins outscored the home team 21-14 in the final frame to pull out the win.

Cody Bauman posted a double-double of 18 points and 13 boards while dishing out five assists and coming up with a pair of steals.

Clayton Koppatschek added 14 points, Brock Sheffield 13 and Nick Olson 10. Sheffield corralled seven rebounds.

Eppard dropped in 38 points and grabbed six boards for Chester (8-12). Alex Tammen had nine points and four dimes.

Deubrook Area (8-12) opens play in the Region 3B Tournament on Monday, Feb. 26.

 Elkton-Lake Benton 47, Waubay/Summit 35

WAUBAY – The Elks (7-13) beat the Mustangs (3-17) in the regular-season finale for both teams. ELB opens play in the Region 4B Tournament on Monday, Feb. 26.

Warner Classic

 Arlington 43, Warner 38, OT

WARNER – The Cardinals (14-5) edged the host Monarchs (16-4) in a Warner Classic matchup.

Arlington concludes the regular season taking on Clark/Willow Lake on Friday in Willow Lake.
