Lee A. Rose, 95, of Flandreau, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at Avera Flandreau Hospital surrounded by his loving family. 

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau. Burial is in Union Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a 4 p.m. prayer service.

Lee was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Rockwell City, Iowa, to Harley and Nellie (Hutzell) Rose. He graduated from Heron Lake High School. Lee married Ida Martens on Feb. 22, 1944, at Windom, Minn. They owned a restaurant in Storden, Minn. Lee enlisted in the U.S. Army March 9, 1945, and was discharged Nov. 19, 1946. Lee attended bricklaying school in 1947 and started his career working in the 48 continental states. Lee and Ida moved to Flandreau in 1969. He retired in 1985 and they continued to live in Flandreau. Ida died Feb. 15, 2009. Lee was a member of the South Dakota Bricklayers Union and was a lifetime member of Flandreau VFW and American Legion. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Lee was a very social person and especially loved his family and friends. 

Lee is survived by four children, LaRae (Tom) Krakow, Mark Rose, Danny (Helen) Rose, all of Flandreau and Todd (Sheila) Rose of Watertown; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 

Lee was preceded in death by his wife Ida, granddaughter Haylee, grandson Nicholas, great-granddaughter Riley Jo, and one sister, Eyvonne.
