Leon Charles Perkins was born Jan.21, 1944, and grew up in Webster, SD, with his parents and two older sisters.
He graduated from high school in 1962 and graduated from SDSU in Brookings, SD, in 1966 with a degree in economics.
Following college, Leon served in the Army until 1968 when he moved to the Twin Cities and began a career in finance that lasted 38 years.
Leon and his wife, Karn (Potter) married in 1974 and were together for 44 years.  
They loved to travel, both locally and internationally and made many trips to Norway.
 Leon passed away Aug. 2, 2022. He was often the center of attention at family gatherings, where he wasn’t shy about sharing his opinions and stories, and was great at making people laugh.
 Leon passed away on Aug. 2, 2022, four years after his beloved wife Karn, and was also preceded in death by his parents, Fern (Rudloph) and Roy Perkins, and his eldest sister Jean Keeler.
Leon is survived by his sister Dorothy Perkins of Custer SD, sisters in law, Annette Budge and Sharon Potter, several nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat, Harvey.
A private, family graveside service will take place at a later date in Wilmot, SD. Please direct any memorials to the St. Paul Animal Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
