Lila Bauman - Brookings

Lila Mae Bauman, 85, of Brookings, SD passed away Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Brookings Health System, Brookings, SD.  
Memorial services have been set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at First Lutheran Church, Brookings, SD.  Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at First Lutheran Church.  Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.  
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to the charity of your choice in Lila’s name.  Rude’s Funeral Home will live-stream the memorial service on Rude’s Funeral Home Facebook page and on First Lutheran Church Facebook page.
Lila Mae Borstad was born on Oct. 26, 1935, in Brookings, SD the daughter of Christ and Lizzie (Reich) Borstad.
Lila received her education in the Brookings schools.  She was united in marriage to Derald Bauman on Nov. 6, 1954, in Pipestone, MN.  
After their marriage they lived in Brookings until moving to Fresno, CA in 1957, where they lived for a short time before moving back to Brookings.  From 1958 until 1962, she was employed at the United Living Community and then at Prairie Café’ until 1972.  She was then employed at the 3M Company from 1972 until her retirement in 1994.
Lila was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the First Lutheran Church Quilters, the VFW Auxiliary and the Brookings Women’s Bowling Association.  She especially enjoyed bowling, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
Lila is survived by her three daughters, Kathryn (Marlan) Redlin of Watertown, SD, Sheryl Bauman of Bullhead City, AZ and Julie Wollschlager of Madison, MN; one son, Chris (Myrna) Bauman of Harrisburg, SD; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Donna Borstad and Barb Borstad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Derald; son-in-law, Jeff Wollschlager; five brothers and two sisters.
