BROOKINGS – Sioux River ABATE is a local chapter of a statewide nonprofit organization that words to preserve motorcycle rights and advocates for motorcycle safety.
Recently the organization presented a check to Austin Koenig, a physical education instructor at Hillcrest Elementary, for the school’s Strider All Kids Bike Program.
Each year members of ABATE attend the Motorcycle Hall of Fame induction breakfast at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Strider has been a big part of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame and National Motorcycle Museum.
This year, they spoke about the All Kids Bike Program and their message of getting kids on bikes inspired the local organization to search out the local program.
