BROOKINGS – South Dakota Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense program, announced Kathy Svendson with Advance Assisted Living in Brookings was honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of her service member employee.

Bryan Hall of Brookings Auto Mall  and Jolee Frederikson with Aramark in Brookings were also named Patriot Award recipients.

The Patriot Award, created by ESGR, publicly recognizes individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who, like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve.

Svendson was nominated for being highly supportive of her employee, who serves in the South Dakota National Guard, Andre Jorgensen

Jorgensen said he nominated Svendson for the award to thank her for her support of his duties in the National Guard, including flexible schedules, time off for inspections and training time, and allowing his time to care for his military family, as well as his family at home.

Svendson was noted for working with the Guardsman schedule in accordance with drill schedules, and is very supportive of service members.

Hall was nominated for being highly supportive of his employee, who serves in the South Dakota National Guard, Samuel Roberts.

Roberts said he nominated Hall for the award to thank him for his support of his duties in the National Guard, including flexible schedules, time off for inspections and training time, and allowing his time to care for his military family, as well as his family at home.

Roberts said that Hall works really well with his Guard days even if on a short notice.

Frederiksen was nominated for being highly supportive of her employee, who serves in the South Dakota National Guard, Matthew Jackson

Jackson said he nominated Frederiksen for the award to thank her for her support of his duties in the National Guard, including flexible schedules, time off for inspections and training time, and allowing his time to care for his military family, as well as his family at home.

Frederiksen finds that working with the Guardsman is a very positive experience.
