Loren Harry Weber was born on June 20, 1936, in Mitchell, to the late Harry and Esther (Hansen) Weber. In 1941, he moved with his parents to a farm south of Clear Lake.  Loren attended his eight years of country school at Sunnyside School.  He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1954 and then attended one year of agricultural school at SDSU.

Loren enlisted in the Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. Loren returned home to farm with his brother and father.  His farming included dairy cows, stock cows, pigs, chickens, and grain.  Loren was very passionate about his International red farm equipment.  He always stated, “If it ain’t red, leave it in the shed.”

Loren married Carol Johnson on Oct. 26, 1963, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and they have been members there for many years. They just recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.  Together, they made their life-long home near Brandt, with their three daughters.

For a short period of time, Loren was an over-the-road trucker for Midwest Coast. After retiring from farming, Loren worked at Rainbow Play Systems in Brookings, where he was able to further use his talents to work with wood.

Along with his love for the farm, Loren loved animals, especially his dog, Molly, and cats, Rocky and Bullwinkel.  He was known for his firm handshake, tight hugs, and contagious smile.
