YANKTON – Sioux Falls Roosevelt’s Jack Lundin capped an incredible season and a standout high school career by earning medalist honors and the Rough Riders took the team title at the Class AA State Boys’ Golf Tournament, which concluded Tuesday at Hillcrest.

Lundin entered the day two shots back in a tie for third and closed with a 5-over-par 77 – the second-lowest tally on a difficult scoring day. He finished with a 36-hole total of 6-over 150, clearing the field by a pair of strokes.

It marked Lundin’s fifth consecutive top-four finish in the event.

He was first in 2015, third in 2016, second in 2017 and tied for fourth in 2018 (at BCC). He tied for 57th as a seventh-grader.

Lundin pulled off a rare summer sweep in SDGA action, winning the Amateur (at BCC) and the Junior.

The Rough Riders closed with a 323 for a 625 total and a two-shot win.

O’Gorman (315) and Sioux Falls Lincoln (318) finished at 627.

Rapid City Stevens (327) was fourth and Yankton (328) fifth with 635 and 641 totals, respectively.

Brookings shot 420 in the final round and dropped to 16th at 804.

Lundin’s 77 included two birdies, five bogeys and a double-bogey.

Raider seniors Adam Salter (79) and Ben Daane (81) and Patriot junior Nash Stenberg (79) tied for second individually at 8-over-152.

Daane was the first-round leader, while Salter and Stenberg were tied for third with Lundin.

It marked Salter’s second consecutive runner-up finish. He birdied the third hole and was 1-over at the turn; however, he bogeyed the 10th and 11th, doubled the 15th and bogeyed the 17th and 18th.

Daane shot 40-41, bogeying five of his final six holes including the last three. He tied for fourth last year.

Stenberg shot 38-41. His back nine included bogeys on Nos. 11, 12 and 17 and a double at the 13th. Stenberg tied for eighth in 2018.

The Knights’ Jacob Stewart (76), a sophomore, shot the low round of the day and placed fifth at 153.

The Bucks’ Gavin Haselhorst (79) and Spearfish’s Sam Grout (80) tied for sixth with 155 totals.

Roosevelt’s Karsten Kern (85), who opened with a 72, finished eighth at 157 and Jack Eggebraaten (83) tied for ninth with a 158 tally. Garett Everson rounded out the Rough Riders’ Day 2 team tally with a 78, as he tied for 19th at 161.

The Patriots’ Jack Hilgenberg (78) and Jack Eggebraaten (83) and the Bucks’ Landon Moe (80) also finished in the tie for ninth.

Rapid City Central’s Alex Duran (81), Aberdeen Central’s Braydon Jones (84) and Watertown’s Gavin Hibbert (85) tied for 12th at 159.

Four golfers shot 160.

Everson (tie-sixth in 2018) and Hilgenberg (10th in 2018) both were in the top-10 for the second year in a row. Lincoln took the team crown last season, with Stevens finishing second and Roosevelt third.

Jesse Roberts tied for 71st to pace the Bobcats. He closed with a 95 for a 191 total.

Justin Kortan (102) tied for 79th at 198. Jack Even (111) finished 82nd with a two-day tally of 205.

Kane Kurtenbach (112) and Brayton Mack (115) were 89th and 90th, respectively, with totals of 216 and 218.

Kade Brecher, who opened with a 98, was disqualified in Round 2.

Notes: Roosevelt also won team titles in 2005 and 2009. Ryan Trasamar (2001) and Grant Wynia (2009) were the Riders’ other medalists.
