BROOKINGS – Sioux Falls Roosevelt senior Jack Lundin continued his impressive run by capturing medalist honors and the Rough Riders topped the team leaderboard in the Brookings Invitational on Monday at Brookings Country Club.
Lundin carded an even-par 72 for a two-stroke victory. He birdied Nos. 1, 12 and 14 and bogeyed the sixth, seventh and 17th holes.
Lundin won the SDGA Amateur at the BCC on Aug. 9-11 after winning the SDGA Junior at Hillsview in Pierre earlier in the summer. He tied for fourth in the Class AA State Boys’ Golf Tournament last season at the BCC.
Roosevelt posted a team score of 314.
Watertown and Sioux Falls Lincoln tied for second at 317, while O’Gorman (321) was fourth and Brandon Valley (325) fifth.
The host Bobcats shot 363 and ended up 13th.
The Rough Riders’ Karsten Kern and the Lynx’s Emmet Hansen tied for second individually at 2-over 74. The Arrows’ Gavin Hibbert placed fourth following a round of 76.
Yankton’s Gavin Haselhorst, the Knights’ Zach Curd, Mitchell’s Max Dailey, Watertown’s Cayden Paulsen, Aberdeen Central’s Ethan Vikander and the Patriots’ Nash Sternberg carded 78s to tie for fifth.
Watertown’s Jake Olson, Lincoln’s Luke Honner, Harrisburg’s Will Allen and OG’s Jacob Stewart fired 79s while tying for 11th.
The Patriots’ Jack Hilgenberg shot 80 and won a three-person scorecard playoff (lowest back-nine score) to place 15th. Lincoln’s Bennett Geraets and Harrisburg’s Gavin Hatch also shot 80.
Rounding out Roosevelt’s team tally, Austin Merrow (81) tied for 18th and Ashton Helseth (87) tied for 40th.
Jesse Roberts paced Brookings with an 88, putting him in a tie for 47th. He recorded eight pars.
Jack Even shot 89 to tie for 51st.
Kade Brecher (91) was 61st and Justin Kortan (95) tied for 74th to complete the team tally. Kortan made a birdie 3 on the 308-yard second hole.
Also for the Bobcats, Brayton Mack (99) tied for 79th and Kane Kurtenbach (104) tied for 84th.
The Mitchell Invitational is Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeview.
