PIERRE –  The One Stop convenience store in Madison, owned by Todd and Heidi Jorgenson, was named Retailer of the Year at the South Dakota Retailers Association (SDRA) annual banquet in Pierre.

The Jorgensons were chosen for their exceptional customer service, dedication to the local community and enterprising approach to business.

“The One Stop is a local landmark in Madison,” said Executive Director Nathan Sanderson. “The Jorgensons operate an outstanding business and demonstrate a clear commitment to their customers and community.”

The Jorgensons started their business 22 years ago in a small, 800-square-foot building and overcame adversity when their store burnt down three years ago. They rebuilt the One Stop at the corner of U.S. Highways 81 and 34 and now employ 30 people.

“We consider our employees family,” said Todd Jorgenson. “Our community has been very good to us and we always want to help where we can.”

They said they were honored to be chosen for the award out of all the great retail businesses in South Dakota and thanked their family and the citizens of Madison for their support.

The SDRA has presented the Retailer of the Year Award annually since 1982. It recognizes a business owner or manager who is committed to running an excellent business while making a positive difference in the local community.

The South Dakota Retailers Association is one of the nation’s oldest and largest trade organizations, representing almost 4,000 businesses across the state. Visit the SDRA online at www.sdra.org or find it on Facebook and Twitter.
