BOOKINGS – Brookings Police Chief Jeff Miller, shown above, was one of 90 plungers who raised almost $21,000 for Special Olympics South Dakota at the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics in downtown Brookings Saturday.
Each plunger raised a minimum of $100 and either participated as an individual or created a team with friends, co-workers or classmates. Plungers set their own fundraising goals prior to the event and collect pledges to jump into icy waters.
This year’s plunge will help provide funds for year-round sports training and competition for more than 2,000 children and adults living with intellectual disabilities in South Dakota, at no cost to the athletes.
