BROOKINGS – A man was arrested after an alleged incident where a woman was grabbed by the throat and threatened with a knife, according to Brookings Police.
The incident was reported at 7:47 p.m. Saturday and occurred at a residence in the 1100 block of Pactola Cove, Lt. Marci Gebers said.
Jean-Van Lusamvuku, 50, of Brookings, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault domestic.
“When officers arrived, they were able to determine that this male subject is in a domestic relationship with a female at the residence,” Gebers said.
“There was a verbal argument that led to the male arrestee slapping the female and then he grabbed her by the throat restricting her ability to breathe. After that, he retrieved a knife off of a counter and threatened the female victim with the knife,” Gebers said.
The Brookings Ambulance was requested, and the victim was transported to the Brookings emergency room for medical treatment, Gebers said.
