BROOINGS – A man was arrested after an alleged domestic assault, according to Brookings Police.

The incident was reported at 1:22 a.m. Sunday by a female who came to the police station, Lt. Marci Gebers said.

Jamison Stein, 20, of Brookings, was arrested and is facing numerous charges.

“The officer spoke with the reporting party who had advised she had been at their residence in the 200 block of Seventh Avenue South. She was involved in a verbal argument with Jamison,” Gebers said.

“When she attempted to leave, he prevented her from leaving. She was able to leave the residence and locked herself inside of her car. While she was in the vehicle, Jamison exited the residence holding an airsoft gun and threatened her,” Gebers said.

“She was able to drive away from the residence and at that point, Jamison threw the airsoft gun at her vehicle, shattering her windshield on the driver’s side,” Gebers said.

She was able to drive to the Brookings Police Department for help, Gebers said.

“Officers were able to locate and place him under arrest for simple assault domestic, false imprisonment, intentional damage to property, and then underage possession of alcohol because he had been consuming alcohol under the legal age of 21,” Gebers said.

The victim did not receive any medical treatment, Gebers said.
