Man arrested on federal warrants in Brookings

BROOKINGS – A man wanted on felony warrants out of Arizona was taken into custody in Brookings on Thursday, according to Brookings Police.

Det. Adam Smith said the Brookings Police Department received information from the U.S. Marshals Task Force regarding a man staying in Brookings who had federal warrants from the District of Arizona, resulting from a recent indictment. He was wanted for three charges of violent crime in aid of racketeering-murder, and a fourth charge of use of a firearm resulting in death.

Arrested was 41-year-old Bhishm Neal. He was located at a local hotel in the 2500 block of Sixth Street. Smith said the BPD assisted with Neal’s apprehension, and he was taken into federal custody without incident.

The BPD blotter says the agency assist and arrest occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Details on the alleged crime(s) for which Neal was arrested were not immediately available.
