VOLGA — Authorities are on the lookout for two people and a stolen vehicle after a Volga retail business reported the theft of a number of items Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 2:03 p.m. in the 200 block of U.S. Highway 14, according to a news release from the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The two suspects, a man and a woman, entered the store and began putting items under their shirt, in a handbag and down the male’s pants, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote, adding that it is also suspected that, while in the store, the man used an aerosol can to become intoxicated. When questioned by the store manager, the two quickly left the business, heading east on U.S. 14 in a gold Kia Rio. The vehicle used in this crime was later found to have been reported stolen from Parker.

This incident remains under investigation and the sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s assistance to identify the individuals, Sebring wrote.
