VOLGA – Crews laid down the floor of the $144,000 Trygve Trooien Horse-Drawn Museum at the Brookings County Museum complex in Volga’s City Park last week. Kaufmann-Ust Construction Co. expects to complete the new museum that will house vintage horse-drawn equipment and other horse-drawn conveyances by early fall.

Shown leveling off Winter Inc. concrete are, from left, Ron Cramer of Volga; Rich VanZambeek of Brookings; Steve Ust, Brookings; Rod Cramer, owner of Advanced Concrete Solutions of Volga; Shawn Hai of Brookings; David Austin of Brookings; Malcolm Barratt of Clear Lake; and Gary Kaufman, Arlington.

A major gift for the new museum was assigned through his estate by the late Trygve Trooien, well known Oak Lake Township farmer and amateur Brookings County farm and rural life historian who died in early 2015.
