Marian I. Sween, 92, of Estelline, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27,  at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline, Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 1 p.m. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marian I. Kasdorf was born on Jan. 5, 1929, in Egan, SD, the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Platts) Kasdorf. Marian received her education in Egan and Flandreau schools, and graduated from Fairview School in Deuel County #16 in 1944. She was united in marriage to Carl Sween on March 10, 1951, in Hendricks, MN. She was employed for Social Services for four years until working for Oaks, in Watertown, SD, from 1990 until 1995 when she retired.
Marian was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. She enjoyed puzzles, quilting, trips to the casino, flowers, plants, watching Wheel of Fortune, and The Price is Right. She will be most fondly be remembered for her years of hosting family and friends with conversation, fresh meals, baked goods and a warm cup of coffee.
Marian is survived by her children, Randy Sween of Clear Lake, SD, Calvin Sween of Toronto, SD, Wayne Sween (Karen) of White, SD, Arthur Kasdorf of Toronto, SD, Carol (Scott) Henderson of North Tonawanda, NY, Joan (Leroy) Baxter of Graceville, MN, Carla Sween of Toronto, SD, Nancy Conlon of Watertown, SD and Amy (Michael) Storm of Webster, SD; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John (Beverly) Kasdorf of Watertown, SD; her sisters, Maxine Friskey of Estelline, SD, Vera Sween of Clear Lake, SD, Mary (Jim) Liefried of Manitoba, Canada, Bonnie Begalka of Brookings, SD, Eleanor Alderman of Volga, SD, Joyce (Milton) Flisrand of Arlington, SD, Ruth Ann (Gayle) Rasmussen of Ivanhoe, MN and Bertha Higgins of Brookings, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; son, Jerry; son-in-law, Bill Conlon; brothers, Fred, Ralph, Kenneth, Floyd and three brothers in infancy and sister, Francis.
