Marilyn M. Buckley-Olson, 83, of Brookings passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at The Neighborhoods at Brookview, Brookings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Brooking. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Rude’s Funeral Home, Brookings, with a Liturgical Wake Service beginning at 6:30 pm.
Marilyn M. Fish was born Jan. 2, 1936, in Volga, the daughter of Roy D. and Enger (Christensen) Fish. She received her education in the Volga School, Volga.
She was united in marriage to Eugene “Buck” Buckley on January 23, 1954, in Brookings. She was employed at 3M in Brookings for 22 years from 1972 until 1994. She continued to work on a part-time basis at 3M from 1998 until her retirement. Eugene passed away March 19, 2000.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Ernie Olson on October 19, 2000. He passed away September 28, 2011.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed cross-stitching, bowling and bingo.
Marilyn is survived by her three sons, Eugene (Debra) Buckley Jr. of Brookings, Paul (Joyce) Buckley of Brookings, and James Buckley of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Cindy (Larry) Bass of Aurora, CO and Patty (Joe) Tschetter of Brookings; 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; her step-children, Jim and Diane Olson of Minneapolis, MN, Steve and Jane Olson of Watertown, , Gary and Cindy Olson of Watertown and Sandy and Lenny Evangelisto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Eugene and Ernie Olson; her two sons, Leroy and Dean Buckley; brother, Darwin Fish and grandson, Thomas Buckley.
