Marjean Goodroad - Rancho Mirage, California

Marjean Goodroad Nolan, 75, passed peacefully on Feb. 22, 2020 in her home at Rancho Mirage, California. She was surrounded by her husband, Gary Nolan, family and friends, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Marjean Kaye Goodroad was born October 12, 1944 in Watertown, SD to Arnold and Rose Goodroad. She graduated with the 1962 class of Estelline High School and attended Augustana College 1963-64. Marjean received her Bachelor of Science in Education at The University of Nebraska in June, 1966. Marjean married Douglas Foster in Estelline, SD (Aug, 1967-72) and taught at Eisenhower High School and was a librarian in Decatur, Illinois.

After traveling around the country spending time with friends and family Marjean began teaching at Northglenn Highschool in Northglenn, Colorado. She taught English, Speech and Drama. In May, 1982 Marjean graduated with The Degree Master of Arts in Education at the University of Colorado in Denver.

Marjean moved to Costa Mesa, CA and was a counselor at the Orange Unified School District. While in Orange County she met Gary Nolan and were married on July 25, 1992, in Newport Beach, CA and soon moved to Rancho Mirage, CA.

Marjean dedicated her life to family, friends and her students. Each deeply touched by her enthusiasm and energy to live life to its fullest.

Marjean is survived by her husband Gary and daughter Julie Nolan and her sister, Geraldine Aune (CJ); sister Donna Klapprodt (Don) and sister Karla Griffith (Mike).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Rose Goodroad.
