Mary Helen Barrows age 82 of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday June 23, 2018, at her residence. She was born March 22, 1936 in Brookings, the daughter of the late Harry Wilhelm and Alvina Rust Wilhelm.
Mary had lived in Sauk Centre, Minnesota for many years before coming to Clarksville. She is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a BS degree.
She was a teacher as well as a ceramics teacher. She had also been a retail manager. Mary is a member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Clarksville and enjoyed painting and flower gardening. She is preceded in death by her husband William I. Barrows to whom she was married in 1957. He passed in 2016. She is also preceded in death by a son Dan Barrows. Survivors include her daughter Deann Barrows of Clarksville, a son David Barrows (Judy) of Omaha, NE, a brother Jim Wilhelm of Oregon, a sister Ella Engen of California, and a sister in law Brigette Barrows of California. Mary is also blessed with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday June 28, 2018 at 4 p.m. at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2526 N. Whitfield Road Clarksville. Pastor Kent Holz will officiate.
There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday at Gateway Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. and at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of services on Thursday. Arrangements are under the care of Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center 335 Franklin Street Clarksville, TN 37040 Phone 931-919-2600.
