Maxine Lucille “Boots” Doyle, 98, of Flandreau, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Riverview Healthcare Community in Flandreau. 

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Second Presbyterian Church in Flandreau. Burial is in Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 2– 4 p.m. Sunday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.

Maxine was born on Dec. 29, 1919, at Denison, Iowa, to John and Anna (Lorenzen) Wiese. She moved to South Dakota with her family in 1924. Maxine received her education in rural Brookings and Moody County schools. 

She worked and stayed at home with her parents until her marriage to Ervin Doyle on June 19, 1950, at Chester. They started farming northwest of Flandreau in 1951 and continued to farm until her husband’s death on Feb. 28, 1976. Boots moved into Flandreau in October of 1977. 

She worked for 15 years for Interlakes Community Service as an assistant cook and also volunteered at Riverview Manor starting in 1985. Boots was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, socializing with friends with a cup of coffee, dancing, playing cards and visiting on the telephone. 

Boots is survived by two sons, Steven (Becky) of Colman; William (Jackie) of Flandreau; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin and 11 siblings, Adeline, Carl, Bernhardt, Johannah, Elmer, Marie, Winnifred, Andrew, Robert, Edith and Alice.
