MayDelle Boadwine - Lake Norden

MayDelle Boadwine, 87, of Lake Norden, died  Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at the Lake Norden Care and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by family. 

Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Hayti Lutheran Church in Hayti. Visitation is Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden and at the church prior to the services.

MayDelle Marvelyn Ercelle Boadwine, daughter of Emil and Thelma (Tuohino) Kangas was born on Aug. 17, 1930, in Hamlin County. She attended Hayti No. 1 through the eight hgrade and graduated from Hayti High School in 1948. She attended Augustana College. In 1949 she married Howard Stormo. They had six children. On April 8, 1971 she married Robert Boadwine. MayDelle lived on the same farm for 62 years. After retiring they made their home in Lake Norden. MayDelle entered a Memory Care Unit on July 1, 2013. She later moved to the Lake Norden Care Center. 

As MayDelle grew up she sang – on the radio, ch,urch choir, church soloist, weddings, anniversaries, funerals, McAllen Mobile Park chorus, and more. Her dad bought her, her first horse (Pal) and they instantly became inseparable. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, canning, making pickles, jams, jelly, and in the earlier years raising chickens. She also enjoyed making rugs. MayDelle belonged to the Merry Mixers Extension Club for many years. She was active on the farm helping Bob however she could, including hauling grain to the elevator. She enjoyed the outdoors all her life. MayDelle and Bob spent 20 plus winters in McAllen, Texas where they met many lifelong friends. She thoroughly enjoyed raising her six children and going to her grandchildren’s activities.

She is survived by  her husband, Bob, of Castlewood; her children: Rodney (Monica) Stormo of Hayti, Kevin (Joan) Stormo of Lake Norden, Lois (Alan) Mack of Brookings, Mark (Cathy) Stormo of Bryant and Ann Stormo of Watertown; daughter-in-law Donna Stormo of Hayti;  13 grandchildren and  23 great-grandchildren.       

MayDelle was preceded in death by her son Lynn (2016), twin sisters Marcine and Maxine, an infant brother Calvin Emil, and grandson Donnie Stormo.
