McMacken, Cubs drill Saints in 7 innings

SIOUX FALLS – Sam McMacken had a big game as the Cubs blasted the Sioux Falls Saints 15-2 in seven innings in a Sioux Empire League amateur baseball game Monday night.

The left-handed slugger went 3-for-4 with a homer, a triple and five RBIs.

Austin Koenig (two RBIs) and Jared Tschetter both doubled and singled. Todd Standish also contributed a pair of hits.

Curt Anderson earned the pitching win after allowing two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in a complete-game outing.

Jake Barkema took the loss after surrendering 11 runs – nine earned – on 11 hits and seven walks with a pair of strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.

Brookings (11-9, 2-4) is host to the Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels tonight at 7:30.
