The Medary Creek Beavers held their monthly meeting at the Brookings County OAC Building Sunday, Dec. 2, at 4:30 p.m. Twelve members, four leaders and five guests were present. The club went bowling prior to their meeting for their holiday party and then enjoyed a wonderful potluck supper and played games after the meeting.
Awards were given out at the meeting with Maddisyn Thompson receiving a plaque for New Member of the Year and Jack Stein receiving a plaque for Member of the Year award. All members received a family fun night gift bag.
Lane called the meeting to order, Tyler lead the Flag Pledge and Cierra lead the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was ‘Guess the number of candies in the jar?’ Ayisha gave the Secretary’s report and no amendments were made.
The treasurer’s report was given by Liberty and no amendments were made.
Old business discussed: Please be sure to write your thank you cards to all the sponsors you received awards from recognition night. Also reports were given on the Elkton Festival of Trees, the club set up a tree and is hosting a drive for the Brookings Humane Society.
New business discussed: 4-H Shooting sports held two safety training dates on Dec. 8 The Brookings County Winter Calf Show will be Dec. 27 and 28 at SDSU Animal Science Arena.
The new Youth Council Community Service Project is the Soles4Souls (shoe drive) there will be a shoe drive box at the County Office to drop off new of gently used shoes.
The next meeting will be Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Aurora Little Hall at 4:30 p.m.
