 The Brookings Toastmasters Club 3712 meets every Monday, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Mission Coffeehouse in the Eastside Room at First Lutheran Church. Visitors are welcome. The club provides an opportunity to learn public speaking skills, as well as to meet businessmen and businesswomen from the Brookings area. Information: 690-3824..

 The South Dakota Art Museum Guild will meet Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Museum for a presentation by Mark Stemwedel, a lecturer in painting and foundations at South Dakota State University. Stemwedel will share images of his current studio work and discuss his painting process and his connections to painting. The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m., followed by the program and a short meeting at 10. The guild has reserved a BATA bus to provide attendees with transportation to and from the Museum. The bus will pick-up attendees at the north end of the Brookings Mall parking lot at 9:00 a.m. and leave the Museum at 11:15 a.m. for the return trip.  Church Women United will have its coffee hour in the Hy-Vee café at 2 p.m. – last Tuesday of month

 New Beginnings Baby Café supports breastfeeding mothers in every aspect of nursing, from starting to weaning and every variation in between. It is facilitated by two registered nurses who are also IBCLC lactation consultants. All pregnant and breastfeeding moms are welcome to attend. New Beginnings Baby Café occurs every Tuesday night from 5 to 7 p.m. in the New Beginnings Family Room on the OB unit.

 The New Day Al-Anon meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church at 525 Fifth St. Follow the signs to the basement.

 A Fox Hall Workshop open AA meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on the second floor of Peace Lutheran Church at 1104 22nd Ave. S.

Thursday, Jan. 30

 The Noon Kiwanis meets Thursday at First Lutheran Church at Main Avenue and Eighth Street in Brookings.

• Joint Camp is a free, 60-minute educational session for individuals who are having, or are thinking about, knee or hip joint replacements. Joint Camp is presented by team members who regularly assist patients on their joint journey, including nurses and therapists. Topics covered include an explanation of joint pain, physical and occupational therapy preparation, how to prepare the home for safety, what to bring with to the hospital and what to expect the day of surgery. The next session is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday Jan. 30 in conference room A of the Brookings hospital. Register at the health system web site or call 696-8888.

 The Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter hosts a weekly Women’s Support Group from 6:30-8 p.m. every Thursday of the month.  For more information, call 692-SAFE (7233).

 Weight Watchers Reimagined  meets at 12:15 and 5:15 p.m., at Comfort Suites at 925 25th Ave. (just north of Runnings), Weigh-ins start one half hour before the meeting.
