Mickelson Middle School teams do well at design challenge contest

On April 27, students from Mickelson Middle School participated in Washington Pavilion Design Challenge in Sioux Falls.

The challenge this year asked students to create and design a playable mini-golf hole that incorporated physics concepts.

Students were able to enjoy the Kirby Science Center, Visual Arts Center, Fitness & Health Floor, and playing other teams' mini-golf hole and communicating teams' design process to the judges. Tina Davis, Natasha Penner, Myron Linde and Steve Kalsbeck served as chaperones for the MMS teams.

Above: The team of  Jannis Buecking, Sam Jennings, and Liam Willse captured first place in the seventh-grade division.

Below 1:  In the eighth-grade division, the team of Heidi Merriman, Biji Kasu, Ethan Peng, Stefan Brozel and Jai Reineke won first place.

Below 2: The team of Grace Davis, Trisha Sharan and Beth Hawkinson took second place in the eighth-grade division.

Below 3: Mira Little Paso garnered third  place in the eighth-grade division.
